04/12/202404-2024BrandonSmithbrandon.smith@fiscalnote.comMy brother John was an Infantryman with the US Army and saw two tours of combat duty in Iraq, near Baghdad: fifteen months in 2007-2008, twelve months in 2009-2010. After John returned home to Richmond, VA, in addition to the physical injuries he sustained during his service, he was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disease, or simply, PTSD. This is the condition that caused John to become a recluse who was unable to leave his home, even to enjoy family outings with his wife and two sons. Ensuring medical support for mental health will allow for John to get the treatment he needs. And he's earned itMental HealthYesMASTER Storybank Survey

04/12/202404-2024LillianGeorgelillian.george@gmail.comMy father Mark was a Lt. Colonel of the Marines for over 30 years. He served 3 tours overseas and was exposed to toxic Burn Pits while in Afghanistan. As of right now, Burn Pit exposure is not covered by the VA. He suffers from COPD and is forced to work from home as a result. Doctors have estimated that his life expectancy is lowered by over 10 years unless he has more medical assistance.
